FAQ
Why did you decide to purchase the facility?
The Brandt family has a deep-rooted history in Imperial Valley through three generations of cattle ranching and beef processing. Eric Brandt, through One World Beef, sees this as an opportunity to build on that history, and create a new venue that caters to the needs of local independent ranchers, particularly independent artisan and craft producers.
When will the new operation be open?
Currently, we are in the due diligence period, which includes a thorough analysis of costs, impacts and assessment of what will be needed to get the operation up and running. The due diligence period will be complete by mid June, and we are aiming to re-open the facility in the fourth quarter of 2015.
How can I apply for a job at the new facility?
We are not currently accepting applications at this time, however, you can send us your contact information by visiting this link. Following the due diligence period and when we begin the hiring process, we will be sure to notify you.
How many jobs will there be?
We are assessing the needs at the facility as part of the due diligence period, and are moving forward with optimism. Pending the final purchase, initial vacant positions may be lower than the number of previously held jobs. That said, we are thrilled at the possibility of bringing jobs back to the Imperial Valley.
What impact do you see this plant having in the Imperial Valley?
A new facility would be positive, as it would bring not only jobs, but a commitment from our company to operate with integrity and transparency, and respect for the people of Imperial County, its livestock and the environment.
As a neighbor to the plant, how can I be sure the new facility will be a good addition to our community?
The facility would bring world-class processing techniques and new technologies to its operations, and focus on using resources efficiently and operating with respect for the Imperial Valley community, land and natural habitat.
How much did you pay for the facility? How was it financed?
Like many other private companies, we do not disclose financial information.
Who are the owners?
The current agreement is between One World Beef and National Beef Packing Company. Brandt Company is independently owned and operated and separate from this anticipated operation. A new entity by Eric Brandt will be formed for the purchase of the facility; One World Beef will be the sales and marketing agent for the new entity.
